The Unhealthy Consumer: When is it Enough?

“Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like.” ~Will Rogers

Wherever we look, we are constantly being fed the idea that we need more “stuff.” We have 24-hour television channels devoted entirely to entice us to buy more and more items we don’t really need. Every commercial break is an opportunity to sell to a captive audience. For those who do not watch television; the internet is always open, perpetually stocked with anything a person can imagine. Magazines flaunt the latest gadgets, cars, clothes, makeup, and anything else they are paid to advertise. Within social media, so-called influencers aim to sway the way we live. We are constantly encouraged to be Olympic level consumers. The average American household has $5,700 in credit card debt. Magpies And Superstition.

In most parts of the UK people will salute a single magpie and say “Good morning
Mr Magpie. How is your lady wife today?” By acknowledging the magpie in this way
you are showing him proper respect in the hope that he will not pass bad fortune
on to you. By referring to the magpie’s wife you are also implying that there
are two magpies, which bring joy rather than sorrow according to the popular
rhyme.

In Yorkshire magpies are associated with witchcraft and you should make a sign
of the cross to ward off evil. And in Scotland a single magpie seen near the
window of a house is a sign of impending death, possibly because magpies are
believed to carry a drop of the devil’s blood on their tongues or in another
legend because magpies were the only bird that didn’t sing or comfort Jesus…

Amazing photos

This is such a beautiful site and I truly feel “artist“ is the only word to describe this photographer. I do not know him personally, I am not getting anything out of this, it is just my opinion that his photos are pure art and I love just looking through them. I do have a thing for birds and nature but I think you should look for your self! Follow this link and check out this great photo of a Warbler.

Use a Creative Watercolor Technique to Stamp

Watercoloring is a very special technique that most artists use with a brush and watercolor set. In today’s tutorial, I show you how to use a watercolor technique and the Misti stamping tool to stamp a watercolor image instead of using a brush. Creating this effect is very simple if you combine Ink Potion No. 9, Memento Inks and Kaleidacolor Inks. Let me show you just how easy it is:

Directions

Step 1

Ink your mat with the colors of ink that you want to use. Be sure to not intentionally mix the colors, just ink the mat and spray it with Ink Potion No. 9.

Step 2

I am using a double step stamp set. One stamp is the border and the other is the inside layer. Stamp the border images with Peanut Brittle Memento Ink.

Step 3

Ink the solid image directly over the…

How to be mentally healthy

Aui V.'s avatarAui V.

I remember many years back when a terrible panic came crashing down on me with no apparent reason. I was so scared, my heart was pounding out of my chest and I couldn’t get enough air that I have to be brought to a nearby hospital. I suffered a nervous breakdown.

The days that followed after the hospitalization was more difficult to bear but I was determined not to take any medications because I was afraid of becoming dependent on it. I read everything I could and realized later that attending to my mental health was crucial to my general well-being and to living a life that is full.
