It appears to be a colubrid of sorts more in the rat snake family. Not entirely sure without more pics. But definately a colubrid and not a python.

Looks to be a corn snake aka red rat snake. Beautiful specimen. 😍

Thank you, my sons teacher told him what he was. Many times I have heard something wrong come from his school.
