Now I know that many people do crash diets and other crazy weight loss methods that require you to fast from food or forgo those meals that you love to eat. From my experience, almost everyone that try the starvation method end up gaining the weight back quickly.  I am here to tell you it is because food deprivation is not the way to go. It might work for a few days or weeks, but it does not solve the underlying problems.

Being a healthy person requires changes in eating habits. What you eat, the portion sizes, and even the times of the day that you eat affect your health. All of these factors need to be adjusted to lose weight and keep it off.

Your body is like a machine, give it the right fuel and maintain it so that it will run longer with much fewer complications.

These are the hands of St. Paul, St. Peter and Jesus as painted by John La Farge in the murals for Trinity Church.  I was inspired to create this compilation by the moving images and words in Steve McCurry’s recent post, The Language of Hands. I may write more about hands in the future, but for now, I hope you enjoy these images.

I have an unofficial postcard club of 5, 6 and 7 year olds.  It is mostly a quarterly mailing of nature-themed images.  I have offered to hand the postcards to my young friends but they seem to like the idea of a handwritten note, a stamp applied, and the piece of paper traveling around the world (so to speak) before winding up in their mailbox, addressed to them specifically.  I have told the older ones that one day soon I expect a note in return.  😉

If you follow this blog, you know how much I love producing postcards of the stained glass windows at Trinity Church in Copley Square.  Of late, I’ve been focusing my attention on the painted walls.  Expect a future post about the original paintings orchestrated by John La Farge in the late 1800s and later painting done over the decades during various renovations.

In what was enormous good news around our camp, Juliet and I had images selected by a professional jury for the 3rd Annual Gallery NRC Mobile Phone Photography show in Denver Colorado. All images must have been taken and edited (preferably) with a mobile phone. As many of you know Juliet was in the show last year with this amazing shot of Venice. The show runs September 26, 2013 – October 19, 2013 and is free to the public. We will have framed images and prints for sale at the exhibition. We are fully committed to continuing our lives in this creative pursuit and one day hope to operate a gallery of our own.

Today, the wonderful Your Life is A Trip experiential travel site, posted my second piece for them, Finding Mario Bollag  about my first visit to the beautiful Terralsole winery in Montalcino, Italy. This piece, while short, tells the story of how Juliet and I made our way from Rome airport to the brilliance of Tuscany in a 5 and a half hour adventure.
