“Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.” ~Anonymous

I wish the above quote was true. Unless we are a machine or lack human emotions, words and actions have a profound effect on the way we feel about ourselves and the world around us. In our current society we have become hyper-aware and sensitive to bullying. We are quick to notice this taboo behavior in others and readily condemn it. It is possible that some of us fail to see the same behavior in ourselves. It’s time to take off our blinders and become more self-aware that we may be exhibiting the same behaviors towards others even though we will not tolerate this behavior from others. Self-awareness leads to personal growth. Through positive evolution we become happier and tend to have healthier relationships in general.

Here are some signs of an emotional bully:

Steps to Overcome Technology Addiction

“True happiness is… to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future.” ~Seneca

We live in a world where most of our life essentials are one click away. Food, clothing, companionship, entertainment, and even sex can be attained by just a click. More and more we are giving our vital life energy to electronic devices. Look around. I am quite sure you will see what is becoming a familiar norm. The bent head, focused-non-blinking stare, the raised hand holding an electronic device, with the other hand probably tapping or swiping the screen. We are slowly becoming electronically fed zombies. Our interactions with one another are becoming less in person and more facilitated by an electronic device. It is reported that one in eight Americans suffer from problematic internet use and an estimated 30 percent of the population in China is highly addicted to the internet…

DIY Fall Decor

aliceswonderinghearts's avatarAliceswonderingheart

All of these DIY’s are fairly simple and I was really happy with how they all turned out. You can get the majority of the supplies at a craft store or you can order it online. This is actually my first time decorating for fall and I probably went a little over board, but I am in love with the decorations and probably won’t want to take them down when spring comes along.

Leaf Garland

Supplies:

  • Fake Leaves
  • Gold Paint
  • String
  • Tape

Step 1- I taped the leaves to cardboard to make them easy to paint and gave them all two coats of paint.

Step 2- Once dry attach the leaves to a string. I just tape them to an existing garland I had to make it feel like fall. If you want to know how to make the garland you can read about it here.fullsizeoutput_a32

A True DIY Innovator

Captain DIY's avatarDIY 2 FI

Screen Shot 2017-11-07 at 8.46.07 AMDisclaimer-Captain DIY and DIYtoFI.blog highly recommend exercising extreme caution when attempting DIY projects. Not everybody can do everything, and some things should only be done by professionals. Keep your digits attached, and keep the insurance company off of your back. Do it right or call the right people!

Today we have a look at some serious DIYers in action. I came across this video on Youtube this morning about a guy who has made his own Powerbank out of used lithium ion batteries. He even uses them to power his car!

This is some dangerous stuff here, and I absolutely DO NOT recommend you try this. In fact, I won’t be trying it, as I’m not totally confident in my ability to not get blown up. I’ve seen the awesome power of electricity let loose, and it is scary as hell.

That being said, it was amazing to watch this…

How to Identify Passive-Aggressive Behavior

By Dr. Perry, PhD

“Let’s meet at noon at the gym – oh wait, you probably don’t know where that is.” ~ Anonymous

We all have that friend, co-worker or family member who has a special way of saying seemingly harmless words that makes us feel like we have been slapped across the face with a rose only to later find we have been embedded with thorns. These same individuals have the habit of doing or purposely not doing something in order to impede your stride. Procrastination, stalling, last minute cancelations; all of these are done while smiling innocently with no hint of anger. The passive aggressive person is often the nicest person in the room. But the smile and feigned innocence hides bottled up aggression and anger. Having no outlet, this anger will display itself through their words and behaviors.

Plant help please!!

I have searched and Google this plant, I think I have an idea on what it is but I want to get it to grow more than one vine. Now with my other plants I cut the tip off and most times it sprouts a new vine but with this one it will just sprout somewere on the same vine! It doesn’t move very easy and is delicate but at the same time heavy and tough. What I want is to have a new vine from the pot. Anyone have any ideas???
