Create a Glittery Snowflake on Glowing Red Background

Imagine's avatarImagine Blog

by Arjita Sepaha Singh

For today’s card, I used the Sparkle Embossing Powder to create the beautiful snowflake on a bright red cardstock. I used VersaMark Embossing Ink to stamp the snowflake. Once the embossing powder was melted I blended some red inks with a sponge dauber around the edges of the card. This adds a beautiful glow to the card and I finished the card with a sentiment in black. This is a perfect project to be mass-produced for your Christmas cards.

It’s Time To Deck The Halls {DIY & Frugally of Course!}

Howdy friends! I think I have mentioned it several times lately that I am really excited for the holiday season. I have barely done a lick of shopping nor is there anything I am hoping to receive except joyful times with family and friends! I started decorating yesterday (for the first time ever before my kids were nagging me to get the decorations up LOL!) and I enjoyed myself immensely! We decided to wrap the posts on our front porch with red velvet ribbon and reuse the faux evergreen garlands on the bannister. I did not have enough ribbon on hand so I went to AC Moore and grabbed a few spools at 60% off. The ribbon I got was 1 1/2″ wide in a 20 yard long spool and I paid about $2 a roll-reg. $4.99. I was hoping to find wider ribbon but actually it worked out better…

Hi friends! I spent the morning teaching a workshop making DIY kissing balls, it was so fun! I wish I took a photo because you would not believe how lovely all of the Christmas kissing balls looked hanging in the greenhouse as my beginner students put the finishing touches on them. Now I am enjoying a hot cup of tea before climbing into the attic to fetch our Christmas decorations. We decorated the porch last weekend when the weather was nice and it has been so cheerful to come home to. I enjoyed the decorations on my porch so much that I thought it would be fun to create cards inspired by them!

We still have a few finishing touches to add like icicle lights at the roof and greenery in the ice skates but all in all I really like it! We have a small ranch style home so…

From great pain to great motivation

Troy Headrick's avatarWise & Shine

In my “journeys” on YouTube while listening to what the greatest people have to say about everything, I’ve noticed that so many of them got awesome because they were at a very low point in their lives and they decided to do something about it.

It’s interesting how we feel the need of some sort of change when we’re suffering and it seems that the bigger the pain, the bigger the motivation can be. For example, Will Smith comes from a broke family where he had to work from a very early age. Tony Robbins has been abused as a kid by his mother and while growing up he got to a point where he got only 17 dollars which he gave to a child in a restaurant, this leaving him with nothing. Grant Cardone has been homeless for 6 months. Tom Bilyeu was obese. Eminem grew up…

Passion and motivation are not the same thing

Troy Headrick's avatarWise & Shine

This is one of the topics approached by most people and it’s interesting to see why. Tom Bilyeu said that most people ask him how to find their passion so I guess it’s a pretty interesting thing. What’s more interesting is that the people who ask this feel they need more in their lives. They feel that they are not doing what they were created to do and this can be very depressing.

Right now it’s 11:08 PM and after I’m done with this post, I need to write my 1000 words on my book which will take 2-3 hours. And I need to get up at 6 AM to get to work (I have an unrelated daily job). Is it passion that drives me to do this? Is it motivation? One year ago I was learning web design programming because I thought that’s what I wanted to…

Just decide

“The key to self confidence is to keep the promises you make to yourself” – Ed Mylett

This is the phrase I encountered today that made me think (don’t worry, I was thinking before this too). It makes sense, but why? What is the main idea behind this that builds up our self confidence? I’ve encountered the same idea at Casey Neistat, but in different words. He said that whatever he starts, he finishes no matter how good or bad that thing is.

I believe this is all about commitment. A promise is a decision we make and once we make a decision, we should act upon it. Apparently, whenever we finish what we started, we get a sense of accomplishment which has a positive impact over our confidence. We get a little dopamine everytime we accomplish something and that makes us feel good. Have you noticed…

Where does your sense of Identity come from?

So the other day I was just sitting on the bus, staring out the window as I do most days and aimlessly thinking about life when suddenly my brain decided to just drop this existential truth bomb of a question on me:

Who AM I?

As a teenager (or perhaps just a human being) every couple of months I have a weird shaking of my sense of self. I message my friends saying something along the lines of “Guys, I think I’m having an identity crisis”

At this point, I just expect a reply of “Really? Again?”.

Introversion vs Extraversion

introversion vs extraversionDrawing by Adrian Serghie

These personality traits are very popular and used by a large number of tests. Even though we see this most of the time as two different things, it’s actually more of a continuum so the conclusion is that we all have some percentage of each of these two traits (according to Carl Jung and the developers of the MBTI).

“Extraversion tends to be manifested in outgoing, talkative, energetic behavior, whereas introversion is manifested in more reserved and solitary behavior.” – Wikipedia

I’m sure that most of you are pretty familiar with this definition, but the question is: how definitive is it? If it’s a personality trait, does it mean that we will always be this way? Apparently, there were conducted some twin studies which concluded that there are genetic components involved (from 39% to 58%). So a maximum of 58% of our…
