I finally decided on the size based on our need , it only took me days!! Both my husband and I hate doing drywall and we both love weed so we decided to install shiplap instead. I am going to have two drawers the length of the side with only one piece on it and then shelves on the rest. I might put drawers on the other side as well but, not sure yet .
You know the messed up part of this whole thing is, the blue print design was easy, the building part is not too bad but the actual designs, colors , drawers or shelves, lighting, that part is the most difficult!! I’m worried I won’t like the results or it won’t look right, wow! Well I guess we will see!!!

As we continue on in our renovations we decided to take the basement stairs down and remake them straight instead of with a turn.
We had to go through the concrete of the original house foundation and found it was packed with rocks! This made it very difficult to do so my husband had to rent a jack hammer!
My husband also finished taking down another spot since he had it already and that’s when I noticed a large piece set aside, he said he found it in the wall and it was granite!!!
It still has some brick stuck to it but I can only imagine how using granite would be cheap? I can see how the rocks would be, any market out there for rocks hundreds of years old!! Lol
Next we will rebuild these stairs to go straight down, then the second story stairs can be done the same way.
It’s such a slow process but it is coming along.
As we are building a new bathroom we needed a bigger vanity. I hate paying top dollar for new things. I can’t help it, I’m cheap, we found one online for a good price but it had a tan marbled top. That wasn’t going to work so I looked up how to change that.
I decided to paint it. I did a lot of reading and research, then I jumped in!
Last on Remodeling we saw the new laundry room built, then came destruction of old laundry room and new bathroom being built.
First we had to do the foundation for an addition, then a new bulkhead door , then the room addition.
The new room will be my new laundry room. The old laundry room will be a new bathroom and the old bathroom will become a walk through from the kitchen to the laundry room. It will have double glass doors that will go to new deck. We have half the deck done at the moment that we did while waiting for the cement guys to get the foundation done.
Next year the second floor of the house is being removed and rebuilt with a different layout, a different roof line and the addition part will go up to become the master bath. We wanted to keep the house like it was but it had so many different builds with 3 roof lines we found inside, it had been added to 3 times and not always the proper way. It was built in 1914 so I’m sure they did what they could with what they had.
Finally have half of the deck done. We are waiting for gravel Togo around the new addition foundation to finish the area and then we can do the other half.
We have had plans to renovate this year for a year but then the pandemic happened and it all went to poop!!! Everyone was booked, no contractors, needed a basement for the addition, nope can’t do that!!!!!
Ok now that I got that out, we finally have the foundation for the addition started.
And now a hurricane!! Yup! Now it will be another week or something before we can get this back on track.
I also learned hubby wants to put pipe all around the house so more digging has to come, but not for a couple weeks till we can get the right equipment.
I still have the perfect husband, great kids and support from friends, but I’m still frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We bought our house March 2017 and since then we have redone all the floors, took out a wall separating the living room and dining room, put an 6 foot bay window in, reinsulated most of the outside walls with new windows all well, made the porch into a sun porch, tore out the whole kitchen and started it over. We had to cut out ceilings in the stairways for my 6 foot son to not hit his head, lol, and bunch of other things. The main problem besides the plaster is the ceiling upstairs starts at 4 feet on one wall and gets to 7 at the other, both sides of the house, very bad for my back!!! , so we said we had to fix it.
We finally started the process,
We drew up the first set of plans yesterday and decided besides tearing off the whole roof we are also putting in a small addition to make it a completed straight four walls.
The finished house will be 30 x 32 and it will all be usable space!!!
